OM616 sanden conversion kit
After suffering the loss of my 3rd R4 in the past 12 months (in 2 cars), I want to switch to the sanden compressor.
This time, two of the three metal bands riveted between the hub plate (that is magnetized) and the part of the hub that fits on the compressor shaft snapped ![]() Other than that, the compressor works fine. The hub failure led to intermittant cooling (when the clutch would slip) and a horrible sound when the compressor was running. I tried to swap a hub from a spare compressor I had in the garage, but the two parts have completely different dimensions and the in tact hub won't fit on the working compressor. This was a Napa compressor, and the hub was very cheaply made. The clutch holding tool hardly worked because the divots where the tool fits were very shallow and rounded. I am going to take the hub to Napa and see if they can source just that part, because I could get cooling again with the proper hub. If that is not possible (which I suspect) I will ask for a refund because I just installed it (with a new drier and 134a in Feb. ![]() I contacted Kilma, but they will not have 240D kits available until August. Seems like an odd time to restock an AC part, but ![]() Do any members fabricate a 240D kit? I remember one member making some kits, but I think they were the 617 version?
