Just lookee what I found!

A BONAFIDE GREMLIN! Yes, indeed, though I thought I'd stumble over a unicorn first. Okay, well technically I only discovered his swanky pad. I'm sure he was out on the prowl for some tail to bring back when I crashed his pad. Little bastage prolly thought the SDL is sooooooo roomy he may as well set up diggs, too. The NERVE!

First image is what prompted the investigation. The wire from the brake pad sensor was cut...or shall I say mauled? Hmmmm. Searching for the other end, realized that both leads were severed and the battery tray would need to come out.

Good thing, too. The next two pics show his personal space after all his crap was removed from the premises. Mangy buster was a total hoarder. Forgot to snap a pic for evidence, but suffice to say he was living quite posh. After his foul garbage was tossed, better yet, repossessed by the shop-vac, you could see that not only was he squatting, but he was helping himself to free meals compliments of Johanna's wiring harness! Had to promise her not to ignore even the littlest of her complaints or she threatened nervous breakdown!

Man, been chasing my own tail with some issues and gettin nowhere fast. Talk about frustration. In total eight wires gnawed through. When all was repaired, I got a fully functional tachometer and kickdown working to spec to celebrate the eviction of one filthy critter.

I had no tach since 3/1, when I took possession of this '86. Sensor tested good and same for continuity along wires. Tach would only work while in upper rpm range. No readout during idle or until reaching around 2500rpms. Then it would jump to attention. Kickdown has always been the temperamental little brat that never gave reproducible results.

Can't describe how thrilled I am for the fact I now have rpm's registering at stop lights and always! Yippee. Now I can get on to actually fixing things again.
