Wow; that has an MSRP of $540 In the US and an internet price of $405. This was from a genuine Mercedes Dealer that sells Parts online (here in the US).

When you shop using the Mercedes Part Number leave off the "A"; as most places don't used that.

When I ran the part number without the "A" threw Pelican Parts it has 2 supersession numbers.

Just so you know, the unit on the left is only a fuel level sensor (one of two) and contains the lines that come from the pump. The actual fuel pump is located on the right side of the tank (pt# A211-470-58-94). You will also need a new tank seal as well (A211-471-05-79). It is however recommended to replace the unit on the left as well because it does contain the fuel filter, but it isn't required if you are doing the pump.

55/1 - Fuel filter w/pressure regulator
B4/1 - Left tank fuel level sensor
B5/1 - Right tank fuel level sensor
M3 - Fuel pump

Hope this helps!

Hi folks,

I would like to fill you in on the back round story:

2005 E 320 CDI with 118 000 miles. Bought car few days ago. The PO was told by seller it has a noisy low pressure pump but it still works. Also car has a limp mode which will be another thread (looks like the fuel rail has overpressure condition, sending car into limp mode)

I was confused by the term low pressure pump, thinking it is a secondary LP pump to the HP pump in the engine bay.

As it turns out, it is a lift pump, that is located on top of the fuel tank, behind the driver seat. (Left side)

So the car went to my mechanic to have it looked over and in the process of looking at the CEL and limp mode. The Lift pump (aka low pressure pump, aka Fuel sending unit) in the fuel tank went dead. Now the car does not start.

So I am in search of Left Fuel Tank Sender Assembly. It seems like MB likes to have plenty of confusing and cross part number for it:

Part # 2114705894 OR 2114701694 OR 2114705994
Manufacturer Mercedes Benz
Categories Fuel System
Assemblies FUEL TANK WITH ATTACHMENT PARTS

I have found this on my local online parts website here in Canada:
2005 Mercedes-Benz E320 Genuine Fuel Tank Sender Assembly in Canada - Canada W0133-1779795 Fuel Tank Sender Assembly Canada

Genuine Left Fuel Tank Sender Assembly
Part Number: OES1779795 Manufacturer: Genuine

Position:
Left (Driver Side) behind driver.

May also require (1) 211 440 05 07 Wiring Harness and (1) 211 471 02 41 Bracket Adapter.
Product Notes: With integrated filter.May also require (1) 211 440 05 07 Wiring Harness and (1) 211 471 02 41 Bracket Adapter.

So since the Low pressure pump was making noise, it was probably on its way out..finally quit at the shop.

I was looking all over the net for the best price (thanks diesel911) and looks like $328 plus tax is the best price I can find...

I just wanted to confirm, when you right side, are you referencing the rear or front of the car?

When I say I need the sender unit which is located behind the driver seat, I am referencing the front of the car.

Thanks

The right or left side of the Car is normally referenced from the Driver sitting in the Drivers Seat of the Car.

If someone references from a different position it would be a good idea for them to say something like; " facing the front of the Car."

People often say the Engine should be turned/rotated Clockwise as viewed facing the front of the Car.

Thanks Diesel911.

So just to make things clear, the fuel pump sending unit is located on the left side of the car, behind the driver's seat. On top of the fuel tank.\

I will be purchasing this part:
2005 Mercedes-Benz E320 Genuine Fuel Tank Sender Assembly in Canada - Canada W0133-1779795 Fuel Tank Sender Assembly Canada

Thanks all

All of the Non-Mercedes Cars I have owned that had an Electric Fuel Pump had a Fuel Pump Relay in the Circuit.
Being they were gasoline Engines they also had a Fuel Pressure Regulator.

If the Fuel Supply Pump was over pressurizing maybe there is a safety Switch that shuts off the Fuel Supply Pump if the pressure gets to high.

Hey. I think this help A LOT.

Ive been having a hard time trying to understand what I need to buy, there was noise coming from the low pressure pump. Which means I need the pump which is on the right side of the car, IE the passanger side

This is the part:
A211-470-58-94 ALT pn is A 2114701694 and OES number is VDO® - W0133-1822399

Now price differs greatly!

2005 Mercedes-Benz E320 Genuine Fuel Pump Module Assembly in Canada - Canada W0133-1822399 Fuel Pump Module Assembly Canada

VS

VDO® W0133-1822399 - Mercedes E Class 2008 Fuel Pump Assembly

My new TDI has THREE pumps.

5psi lift pump in the tank (accessible from under rear seat thankfully) another electric mid pressure pump in the engine bay (~78psi), and the engine driven common rail pump that generates something like 32,000psi.

I am not complaining, its an amazing diesel....236lb/ft at 1750 rpm is great!

New MB's are not any more scary than the old, you just have to go into it knowing things may cost a bit more, and there's more complexity. But thanks to modern computer diagnostics, tracking down and resolving issues can be much easier.

I was taking a lengthy inspection of my Bro's W210 gasser and found nothing particularly scary....in fact a lot of it looks easier to work on than his W123!

That is true I suppose, they are more complicated and expensive to repair but the diagnostic aspect is a lot easier....you can simply plug your laptop into it and pinpoint the exact problem.....but with the older versions we just have to guess what the issue is...
