Anybody ever gotten those cheap tail-lights off Epay?

Hey guys,

So my right side tail light leaks pretty bad and even all of my silicone patch attempts haven't been able to get it to seal properly, and I'm sick of it leaking. I've looked high and low on the internet and cannot seem to find a place that sells just the tail-light seals. There's one on epay, but it's for the left side.

While looking on there, I keep seeing these reproduction tail light assemblies for like $45 from Latvia or somewhere. They caught my eye because they look to come with a new seal.

However, I've become aware of how poorly some aftermarket seals can be. Has anyone tried these cheap overseas tail-lights? Any good?

More importantly, does anyone know where I can get a good tail-light seal! haha

Thanks!

Do you mean the seal that goes between the body and the tail light assembly? Or the seal that goes between the plastic lens and the lighting unit?

I believe the seal between the body and assembly, although maybe I need both. If I remove the little back bulb cover, I can see that the water makes it way in, and goes down over the back of the reflective plate. So not inside the tail light lamp housing, but between the bulb plate and the back of the reflective plate.

So maybe I just need the body one? Or if I need both, then those replacement tail lights are looking better and better, assuming they're worth a darn.

Is it a leak or condensation in the lens? I have a damaged tail light, it has a crack but it has not opened or turned into a full crack so moister comes through the lens and condensation builds up in the lens. If you get this aftermarket lights, I would love to hear a review...because eventually I will need a new one....and most used one have the same issue it or developing cracks where the different color lenses are joined together...

I had a problem with a leak in the L/R light in the 240. I removed the light assembly, then carefully removed the foam seal. they get a "V" depression from years of being held tightly to the body.

I used some black Silicone, RTV, to fill in the depression, and let it cure for 24 hrs. reinstalled the seal and the light. made it through the winter w/o any leaks.

You really have to be careful when removing the seal as they will tear from being stuck in the channel they live in.

When I noted the $25 cost for a new seal, thought I would try the RTV first. It doesn`t show, and does work.

I have pulled several spare tail lights from PNP, they are around $35 each.
