I bet if you screwed the ALDA in so much that you could only go 30mph, you might hit those number

I remember an ad from a guy who bored out a 560SEL... he said that it only got 34 MPG at normal speeds, but once you hit 120-150 MPH you could get 130 MPG and going to 200 MPH resulted in mind-blowing mileage. It was a craigslist ad, so unfortunately I cannot link to it now.

So, the 50 mpg claim notwithstanding, it's a car worth looking at? Do you think it's the same guy?

looks pretty clean to me, probably worth looking at despite the craigslist lie. NB has some decent dockside places to eat if it comes to a bust.

Offer $3000 divided by actual mileage. So if actual is 19 you pay 800 or so

I got 72 MPG driving back from snowboarding in Tahoe ...of course, it's all down hill. I wish it could do that in regular driving! Normally I'll get 28-30 in the 1995 W124 . the most I ever got during "regular" driving was by hyper-mileing it (coasting it a lot) and got 36, but
it was a lot of effort and probably not all that safe.

Odds are good very good that Melo's maintained the car for the owners. John began working on 180Ds for a cab company on one of the Azore Islands, where he was born, when he was 18. His son Mike has been working on MBs since he was 14, he is now 40.

They are on vacation this week and the shop is closed.

As for a good place to eat, I highly recommend Cape Quality in New Behfuh (local pronunciation). A family operation (have their own fishing boats) that includes retail fish store, great food and reasonable prices. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Talked with the guy who put up the ad....says he's posting it on behalf of his landlord....that the landlord provided him with the 50 mpg figure. Says price should say 2k not 3k. Blower motor doesn't work. About 215k on the car. Guy who owns it has owned it for about 20 years, Florida car before that.

Sounds like a car worth looking at. I would....except I just picked up the E300D and am at my limit of three.
