Came across this article today at lunch. Was reading through the list and it appears all those SD's that popped up at LKQ lately had an origin!

This guy was apparently running a scam taking advantage of our ridiculously lax scrap laws here. He would ask if the car was for sale, leave, then call a tow truck, have it towed to LKQ or another local scrap yard, and sell them for scrap. Beeing over 10 years old he didn't need a title!

The collector they mentioned in the story had 5 80's benzes lifted and junked. It appears he got some back from the LKQ on Miami in DUrham, but they were missing parts.

I post this in case any regular customers of the Durham LKQ may have bought parts from these cars. May be able to help put things right for this poor guy...
