one more time. for a definite answer. 94 E320 interior into 87 300D

Had a thread going about this before but never found the answer. anyone ever put the entire interior from a 94 e320 (straight 6) into the the 87 300D (also a straight 6) I'm getting my 87 back on the 1st and starting the facelift, and just wanted to know before I go and sell off the interior in my part out of the 94. Since I don't have the 87 sitting here, I can't really just go out and try it.

You may run into wiring issues if you're swapping out the front seats.

The wiring is the same. Only issue is if one car has memomy and the other doesn't and theres an easy work around for that.

The headliner is very different but should fit. Remember to get the interior panel of the sunroof as well as the panel across the front where the visors and dome light go. The B-pillar covers have additional mounting clips, get them. The dash should be the same except for the passenger air bag but I'd recommend swapping the dash anyway.

The door panels will not fit in the front without modification (eg losing speaker). Sounds like a real headache.

Hmm. need to cut a hole in the door for the speaker I'm guessing? Not an issue if that's the case as I use to do custom stereo installation.

Speaker bracket swapped over with no issue. Just had to drill out the rivets that hold it. The 87 door already had the correct holes for it punched.

Its more than that, there is a substantial amount of the door that needs to be modified and some bracing that needs moving, for the window IIRC. I really wanted to do this and came to the conclusion it would be easier to build out the door panel...

So, why not just swap the entire door?

The late C-pillar liner is different in how it accommodates an adjustable seat belt pivot. The early seat belt will bind if you force it through a later C-pillar liner. Either keep the early C-pillar liner or modify the early sheet metal to accept the late upper seat belt anchor.

IIRC V8 seat bases don't align with early floor pans. I don't even know if you can swap V8 seats onto early bases. Not to mention the seat controller, wiring and switches are very different between early and late 124. I don't remember the cutoff -

Also, the rear seat outboard clasp mount points might be relocated such that you can't tuck the clasps into the pockets.

if you swap the dash, and keep the airbag in it, you need to pull the steel tube brace that the dash bolts to. the 87 is different.
if you pull out the airbag mount, and install your 87's glove box mount, you do not need the brace.

good, I'll have to take a closer look at it when I get deeper into the dash. I've already had the dash out of the 87 a time before when I burned the wiring up in that wiper fiasco... I know way more about this car than I should.
