w123 shop manual (free)

found this just surfing around. looks like it is only for gas motors but still.
check it out.

Mercedes W123 Owners Workshop Manual - Trade Manual, Various - Google Books

I feel like a chump for paying $100 for my W123 paper shop manuals now.

I would definitely pay $4 for it --- IF it included the Oil Burners. Alot of pages I don't need related to gas engines.

I have the Mercedes 2 CD Manual set and I also bought the Printed Manuals.

The CD set is handy but no longer works correctly on My newest Computer. I also use the Free Manual Site that is based on the CD set but has a better index system.

I also use the printed Manuals.
What I have found out is that the Printed Manual have stuff that is not on the CDs or the CD based site.

Also many People prefer the Printed Manuals because the Pictures are clearer on them and of course you don't have to set in front of your Computer to do the reading. You can sit in your Lazy Boy Recliner or on the Throne and read.

Also I paid $50 plus for the CD Set before I knew it could be had for $27. I don't feel at all a chump for being it or the Printed Manuals as I was desperate for information when I firs got My Mercedes.
I also have a Mitchels CD, Mitchels Import Car Manual and Chilton import Car Manual. Every one of them has been helpful even if in only a small way.

All of them have helped to save Me Money

An original printed shop manual would be the best. The pictures didn't come out so well in the CD manual. I also find the instructions on the CD manual inconsistent and frustrating sometimes - with many things it goes into great (perhaps even too much) detail on how to remove or adjust something, and others there is just an exploded diagram and an instruction like, "remove [x] part." I've come across a few sentences that looked like they were awkwardly translated from German, too.

Yes, the Factory CD and even the Printed Manual have some translation issues. But, the CD Manual is a big bang for the buck concerning the shear volume of information. Especially compared to the cost of something like a Haynes or Chilton Manual.

Bently has Manuals but they don't have the Diesel Mercedes and a new one is expensive.

I have the MB FSM Vol 1 & 2 for the W123, the FSM Diesel engine 617.95, the FSM for the heat/ac type one, two and three, the FSM for the electrical year model 83 - 85. and several others I have picked up along the way for some of the older models. some are a Hard Back book.

I like the paper manuals, easier to find what I want flipping through the pages vs a CD. once you have found what you want, then print the pages from the CD, and use them when out wrenching on the vehicles. this keep the manuals from getting greasy.

Iam always on the hunt when I go to flea markets, Swap meets and Car Shows. never know what you will find.

MB has these small technical manuals about 4" X 6" that have a lot of info for each year models. there was a guy that had about 20 of them for $5 ea, and I only bought about 7 of them. then was kicking my butt for not buying them all.

There is a good-Guys car show next weekend, maybe he will be there again in the swap meet area.

My cd set also doesnt work properly (diesel911), I have an ooold hp laserjet II d printer &
found that when printing the section of the manual I need, the images are MUCH better
than on screen.

(I had to install a parallel card in my computer to use the II D) -c-
