highest mileage MB here? (not mpg)

Saw some Swedes running some in the 400k territory. My 603 is still running fine at 345k. Soon to snatch up a spare (for my Landy) that only has 170k.

My personal opinion on high mileage motors is that at least you know they most likely havent sat for years! (Gotta look at the bright side)

Which brings me to my original question. Who here is currently driving high mileage MB engines, and how high?

Im sure this has been covered many times, but for some reason the search bar drops away whenever i enter text?

Doktor Bert has 1.3 million (rebuilt at 1.25 million, I believe). layback40 has 800k on a parts car... a member here replaced his engine at 750k (750KMILZ, I believe)... I have 211k on mine.

Yes,

Our 1978 300SD went 1,244,000 (which we later documented with paperwork from the original owner) before rebuilding the 617.950 in June of 2005. The engine was very tired, as one would expect, but it was still running when overhauled.

The odometer just rolled up 344,000 yesterday, so the 'new' engine now has 100,000 miles on it.

I recently set the valves and checked the chain for stretch and the cam phasing was unchanged. The tensioner shoes/guides look decent too, as do the cam lobes.

No plans to open it up again just yet...

As many, if not most of us here on the forum purchased our cars used from MULTIPLE previous owners. I've got to wonder how many of our cars are actually over 500K... It's SOOOOO easy to change the odo on our cars, and most used car salesmen KNOW that over 300K is a scary thing for buyers... and the MB holds up SOOOO well to high mileage. if my W201 190D is any indication, the motor should last several hundred thousand miles more... I'm willing to bet huge amounts of money that most of our cars do not reflect anywhere near accurate miles...

My first 123 had a swapped odometer, but it was dated as well as recorded in the owners manual when the swap was done. So I just had to do some calculations to find the actual mileage. My 300D turbo, and my current 300TD have never had a broken odometer in their life and are fully documented. Sold the 240 at 331k, 300D at 263k, and my current wagon has 209k. My 300D by far ran the best of all three. Ran like clockwork. Shouldn't have sold it I guess.

my 1978 300D has 298k and change on the clock. That's barely broken in for this community!
I have no idea how many miles are on my 1972 220D. Could be only 12k, could be 312k.
Those confounded five digit odometers!
BUT, when I got the car and title I became the fourth owner of the car and for several decades it had been stored with the second owner so, it actually *could* be only 12k miles. That little engine in there has a good amount of pickup and it would only marginally surprise me if the car actually had that little mileage on the clock.

just went over 315,000 miles on my 1979 240D. Have put over 50,000 miles in less than 3 years. Not bad for the old girl.
