w116 300sd oil pan GASKET replacement
Need to replace the oil pan gasket on my 1979 300sd. I have a brand new oil pan gasket and need to know if a sealer is required to properly install the pan gasket. I have some REINZOSIL-t sealer made by Victor Reinz. How much sealer is needed for the application, thin coat? Please advise

Some will say don't use any, put if it were me I'd use a paper thin coat of sealer just to prevent any weeping...

The classic center says older diesels might be better off using a thin coat but also said that the manuals don't call for it. An independent shop said that there is a brown nasty sealer that VW guys use and is supposed to be really good. The indie guy said to only apply it to the pan, place the gasket directly on it and then position the pan with the gasket on to the mating surface of the engine. Does anyone know which brown sealer he is talking about. He mentioned the word "Admoset or Atmosit"...Please advise
