Paging Dr. John Vstech

We've been there done that on my (and John's) 87 300TDs.

Be sure you get the right thing that won't eat your radiator

You can also use the radiator from a 1995 300D with the OM606. It is the same size. The only difference is the 95 has the vent nipple on the top of the radiator itself instead of on the engine like the 1987 300D/TD with the OM603. You need only cap, or connect a short tube to the vent off the radiator and then tee that to the vent line coming off the OM603 engine.

OM606 - 1245002302

OM603 - 1245003103

My rad support seems intact and my fan did break last night while going up hill, at first i noticed a helicopter type sound and then a loud snap. it did not cut the tube but rather some grilles about half way down the edge of the radiator.I dont want to go thru this ever again, 9 bladed fan sounds like it could be a dangerous replacement.

Was your fan metal or plastic? The NA 606 9-bladed fan is plastic with skinny vanes The turbo 606 11-bladed fan is also plastic with skinny vanes. I suppose given enough kinetic energy they can do damage but the skinny vanes are further from the radiator.
