Help with finding plastic window part - W116 300SD

Hey all,

I'm fixing my driver's window in my '80 300SD, and can't find this 116 chassis part. It's different than the 126 chassis I've found at the local yard.

I'm not sure what to call it, but it's a plastic piece that fits between the metal bracket (attached to the regulator's arm) and the metal rod that the bracket rolls up and down. It keeps the window from going slanted when the window goes up or down. As you can see, it's broken, so I was having to hold my window while rolling up so it didn't get off track.

Any ideas what this is called and where I can find it? Thanks!

I think this is it:

PeachParts FastLane Mercedes Parts Store

If the link doesn't work, search Fastlane for "window regulator kit"

Also available from the dealer though I think they call it something else (been a long time since I fixed mine).

Hmm, thanks for your reply. The link worked, but all those parts are for the actual regulator arm that slides horizontally when the motor is activated. The part I need is inside the part that moves vertically up that metal rectangular rod. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word regulator...the plastic piece I need goes inside the metal bracket and holds the window in place as the regulator moves it up (or down) that rod.

Thanks again, any help appreciated!

Just had one more thought...my right rear window motor is bad (I assume) so I'm not using that one. No big deal, the front ones are all I care about. Does anyone know if the rear windows have this same part? It doesn't appear to be right or left specific, so if there's one back there I'll just steal it and use it for the driver's!

Again, it's the 116 chassis '80 300SD. Reckon I could just get in there and have a look, but thought I might save some time this way. Thanks!

Followup, I did swap it out with the rear and it works almost perfectly. The almost comes from the fact that it still gets off by maybe 1/3 of an inch by the time it reaches the top, but if you keep holding down the switch it'll correct itself when it hits the top.

Manual on the rear, good idea, since neither of my rear windows works that great (right not at all, left has a switch issue). Squiggledog had a good post about switching out to manual, though I remember he got his from a euro car...don't know if there are any around here. Might be able to buy them new or reman tho.

Thanks all

There's a bit of a price difference between the 2 and it is a non-returnable part so I want to make sure.

whunter what say you?
