Who in their right mind would pay this?

19.9K for a 1999 E300. There is a small time car dealership about 10 minutes from me. Mercedes Benz E Class Turbo Diesel | eBay
19.9K for a 14 year old E300? I payed that in 2004 when the car was 5 years old...

I have not paid over $850 for any MB that I own. Granted, they are worth more than what I paid despite the work I have done. I currently have no interest in anything other than a W126 Diesel for my collection.

My latest 300SD was an outright steal at the $750 I paid for it. It was easily worth twice what I paid for it. Granted, it has some work to be done but it is the most solid 300SD I have bought. Can't beat that with a stick!

I've done w126 4-speed conversions in the past. They are fun with OM617 adjusted properly. They have a lot of power with Auto, and 2x the fun with a standard.

for 20k, I'll take a low miles 2006 CDI. It seems like this guy's definition of "service records" is CarFax?

I guess it's supply/demand and what someone is willing to pay that matters.

I know that, to my pleasant surprise, prices on my other car (BMW 540i M-Sport) have actually gone up since last year as they become more scarce in my area and the ones that are out there become longer in the tooth and run pretty ragged. So when a clean, low miles example shows up once in a while it is going for a solid price. So once I'm ready to advertise it for sale I should get what I'm looking for or close to it.

That said, that is really damn high.

I've got an identical car that I would sell for less than half of 19.9k, and not from a rust belt state either!

Putting the comma between the 1 & 9 would seem more appropriate......

You have a '99 E300 with 60K miles or less that you'd sell for $10K? You'll be very popular around here.

Haha....I love the lines "Very Hard to Find E300 Turbo Diesel" (except, oh, I dunno, ALL OVER CRAIGSLIST!) and "The vehicle has been made and assembled entirely in Germany, and consists only of Germany made parts!"

OK....assuming the car is perfect, what do we think the realistic market price is? I'll stick my neck out: $11,500. Much more than that and your getting close to sub-100k 05/06 CDI territory.

Well, the miles are certainly low. We paid a premium for wife's SLK, it was 8 years old but only 31k miles. (not THAT much of a premium). Now at 14 years old it just crossed 50k. I'm guessin this E300 car will go 11 - 12 on fleabay.
