W126 Spare Tire

Here is my situation.

This morning I had a tire go out on me. I was in traffic and by the time I got to the side of the road I had done a number on my tire. Thank god the wheel is still good. I changed it for my spare, which is a 14" bunt that came with the car. The spare was BALD. I opted to replace both front tires, as I had replaced the rear only 2 months ago. The fronts were only a year old. They had about 60% or more tread left. so I kept the drivers side tires in hopes of finding myself a spare rim.
So I ether need a spare wheel for the tire I saved or I at least need to go get a good used tire for my bunt.

Does anyone know of a reasonable option for a 16" wheel?

I thought about a 16" steel wheel from a VW. they're 5x112, but they have a 57mm hub. (MB hub is 66.6mm) even if I go to the trouble of boring out the hub, they have an offset in the mid 40mm range, and the w126 has a 25mm offset.

I could buy a random MB 16" wheel but its got a similare offset problem. and would cost more then a steel wheel.

I guess the simple solution is go get a new tire for the bunt, but I'd sure like to have a 16" spare with the same size tire as the rest of my wheels.

It doesn't really matter if the spare is a 14" 15" or 16" wheel as long as the outside diameter of the tire is the same...

I understand that. What I'm saying is I saved a good 16" tire, I would like to find it a rim. I already said the easier option would be to find a new tire for the 14" wheel, but before doing that I was looking to see if anyone had any ideas on finding a 16" wheel for the tire i saved.

Looks like the CLK has a 35mm offset. Thats pretty close to ideal. Now to find a wheel. found an out dated ebay listing for one, $40 plus $20 for shipping. not bad for a new rim.

You might spend less on a new tire for the bundt than trying to find a 16" rim that will fit your car and tire....you can slap a falken or general tire on that bundt for barely $60

oh come on!!! you NEED to find THAT exact rim so all your rims and tires will match as MB did it from the factory! (not on THAT vehicle of course, but you get my point!) where did you get the 4 you have? what did they come on originally? are they aftermarket?
you could always get this set...

I got the wheels on my car from Jim B. They were aftermarket wheels sold by MB of Beverly Hills purchased by the original owner of his 126 coupe. I think the car only had the 4 wheels.

I talked to a fellow MB nut here in Sacramento. We've got a trade going on. I've had a 6.9 long block in my shed for about 4 years now. My friend is looking at getting a 72 450SL that needs restoration. I'm trading him the 6.9 for a CLK wheel and some other 126/123 parts hes had stashed in his shed that he doesn't need. I've got no reason to have a 6.9 other then I got it from another friend when he was forced to clean out his shed. So this is a great trade for all.

You should carry a plate to spread the load of the jack on a soft surface.
