It will not help a defective starter solenoid. It will help a flaky ign switch or NSS by letting the Ford solenoid take up the 8 amps of the starter solenoid, leaving the flaky ign sw or NSS to take up 1/2 amp of the Ford solenoid coil, which a flaky ign switch or NSS may be able to accomplish.

Is the Ford Solenoid only hooked/part of to the Skinny Wire that powers the Solenoid itself circuit?

How many amps does the Ford Type Solenoid pull?

OP Update

So far, with the current mild sunny Calif weather, my 300D has resumed normal operation.

So far I suspect the weird cold blast caused some problems combined with perhaps some other intermittent impediment in the starter which may have worked itself out now.

I pulled out a nice clean Bosch starter at the 'yard', just in case.

Bench tests fine.

afterthought, the long shot conspiracy theory might be that some coolant splashed on the alternator from a small seepage on the lower passenger side radiator. Coolant which accumulated at the base of rad and may have been picked up by air while driving. might have caused some interference with something although I did have the charging system tested prior to discovering the rad seepage and noted no residue on alternator.... dunno.....
