240d hood hinges

The hood on my 240d wants to go through the windshield when its opened. I believe the PO disconnected a retarder of some sort, and on the port side, it appears the hinge has a broken tang that would have once prevented the hyperextension of the hinge.

Can someone please post a couple closeups of the hood hinge in the "up" position?

Thanks.

I think there is some pictures in the below thread. Also note the issue where the Hood Hinge pivots on the lower pivot.

Wished I'd seen yours before I went the welding route . I did the hard way all over (complete removal of the hinge including that 'way up in there' bolt) and welded the ripped out part back onto the body after getting a replacement hinge assembly from a list member. Mine had been bent so many times by PO it was quite weak.

Nothing wrong with doing a better repair.

I added the below to My thread:
I had been meaning to add this but had not gotten around to it.

One of the Epoxy Putty Joints on ones side of the Hood where the lower Hood Hinge pivots came loose several Months ago.
The other side is still good.

I have not attempted to repair it yet so I have not decided If I will go the Epoxy route again.

Since I posted this thread I aquired a Flux Core Arc Welder. So now it is possible to at least tack weld the Busing in place. Don't know when I will get around to deciding.
