Need help removing glow plug wire - '95 E300

Anyone have experience pulling the connector off of a glow plug in a '95 E300D? It appears to be held by a wire clip that's part of a plastic cover and snaps over the end of the glow plug. The '96 E300D, with which I'm familiar, uses a different kind of connector (and different glow plug, too), even though the engines are almost identical. I don't know if there's a special tool to depress the wire clip or if it's just supposed to pop off -- I don't want to break it.

Jeremy, the plug connectors should just pull straight off the plug. Might need a bit of persuasion.

I finally got the plug off. Still don't understand how it operates but at least it's off. The glow plug itself, BTW, was trivially easy to remove with a 12mm deep socket and a 3/8 inch ratchet. I sprayed it with Aerokroil while I figured out the connector. One or two clicks of the ratchet and it was then loose enough to remove with fingers. Remarkably clean, too, a shame it's deader than a doornail (whatever that is).

The last step, after installing the new glow plug, is to repair the #4 connector, which I broke while "practicing" for #5. Always something!
