Depending on how bad it is, it starts out as a vague vibration. As the tire continues to self destruct it becomes clear that one of your tires isn't round. I had a tire break a belt once about halfway between San Diego and Carson City. By the time I got to Carson you could see the knot on the tire from ten feet away.

A 5 MPH roll on a smooth road is one test. If the car wiggles left to right or up and down something is out of round.

Jack the car up and spin a wheel, A broken belt is usually limited to a 6" area at first. Depressions on the side wall are not signs of a broken belt, some tires get this way.

What sort of problem are you trying to solve?

A broken tire belt is usually felt over a broad range of speeds.

A separating belt is harder to diagnose but it usually gets worse with speed and may even out with even higher speeds.

I had trouble with separating belts on mine and once I went to a higher load rating tire, no more issues.

Vibration. Speed irrelevant.

I was diagnosed with a broken belt in a 31x10.5R15 LT tire once. It didn't occur until around 45 MPG, and got real bad around 60. Then it got better at higher speed.

What he said...

Be careful, they explode quickly and violently, often customizing the shape of the wheel arch in the process.

Not to mention possibly customizing the entire car and the occupants if if happens on a turn.

So the faster you went, the Better MPG you got? I want some of those tires.

I have felt our 240 sort of wobble slightly, just thought it was the road. Don`t feel it at higher speeds.

I know I torqued down those wheels when I rotated them a couple weeks back. now this rain has passed, time to start investigating things.
