here in charlotte, my car is not visible buried under the snow... and it's a 3/4 ton pickup with ladder rack on it... just a few minutes ago, the snow changed to freezing rain... fun...

Sounds rough, I have snow banks along my driveway that are almost 6 feet high. I have carved out a "slot" in a snow bank for my W201 to park in...the snow around it is almost the height of the car. In untouched areas of my yard there's about 20-22" or so...and it has compressed into a VERY dense snowpack from the weight of each snowfall.

oh, it's nothing like THAT!!!
just about 6 inches or so... but it's a thick blanket that's covering the vehicle, blending it into the surroundings...

We've been in NC for going on 11 years and this is the WORST we've had in that time. We didn't move here for this crap!! I'm going to call the Chamber of Commerce and demand a refund.

Here on the coast we've had about 3/4" of ice which has mostly melted this afternoon but it's still raining and is generally yucky (that's a technical term). By Friday we should be back in the mid to upper 50s - I can't wait.

At least the bugs should be somewhat mitigated next Spring.

Dan

near the coast, I'm sure this is the worst you've seen, but I've been in Charlotte area for 30 years, and I've seen WAAAAAY worse than this.

about 8 years ago, nc got about 30" snow in one day... 18 year ago, there were 4 days of solid 10F days, with continuous snow, charlotte was shut down for about 2 weeks... packed snow on all the roads, miserable city handling of the issue... about 14 years ago, we got an ice storm that shut down the entire county for weeks with no power... plenty of nasty winter storms have hit us... all the mosquito's the last few years with the extremely mild winters this summer will be a blessing!

You don't go to Asheville for warm winter weather! That's in the mountains and is subject to WINTER! Most years you can come to Wilmington starting in March and get some sweet weather! We're about 65 miles north of Myrtle Beach and have the same wonderful weather, lovely beaches, etc, w/o all the miniature golf courses and beach junk stores. My little slice of Paradise! Usually........

People here took 8 hours to get home after leaving around 1PM. I just said "screw it" and I'm still at work, warm and dry!

I drove through Wilmington on Monday, stopped and snapped a picture of the Battleship. Weather was great!

Been raining here all day. Temps are not supposed to get below freezing until around 3 am. Things are probably going to go downhill pretty fast when we get there. Shouldn't last long though.

And why didn't you give me a call? I'd pop for burgers at PT's. Next time.....
