cruise control amp question

Greetings,
I pulled the amp from my new to me 300SD to start troubleshooting the cruise. Cruise does not do anything - no speed change, no hold etc. Pulled the amp and found its from a 380SL part #0015457632. I'm guessing this will never work with my 300SD? Or should I re-solder this amp and try it anyways?
Thanks in advance,
MJK

Early 300SD's were equipped with 001 545 76 32 units. My own 82 300SD had one and so have a few that I've worked on.

The unit should work in the SD once repaired. I've had a number of people send me 76 32 that came out of their SD and never had a problem.

The EPC often which does not always have 100% of the part number history. For example the 001 545 79 32 and 002 545 32 32 are both compatible with diesel W123s but IIRC it does not show up in the EPC.

According to the EPC, the 300SD has the following amp possibilities:
002 545 16 32
002 545 82 32
003 545 86 32

Also remember to test your actuator! https://sites.google.com/site/mbcruisecontrolrepair/home/diagnostics/actuator-testing
Let me know how your repair goes. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I also offer repair services and testing if you are interested.

Best bet is to contact forum member JamesDean. He can get you a rebuilt amp that's the right one for your car for $60 or so.

Thank you both for the quick replies. I've read some success stories with the re-soldering of the control board. The PO said it worked intermittently, but so far I have yet to see it do anything at all - only had the car a week.

I will probably re-solder this one and see if i see any improvements, and I will definitely contact James Dean regardless.
