Post HELP finding a part - Oil Filter Canister

So had the oil changed by a 'professional' and they messed up the top of the canister for the oil filter, so oil sprays on the engine when she runs.

So, I need to get a replacement canister and can't find one. Anyone know where I can get one? The ole girl is a 1976 Mercedes 300D (a beautiful shade of peach).
Thanks!

Is it the metal casting itself or just the seal for the oil filter lid?

If it's the seal for the lid, I have a spare, PM me your address and I'll mail it to you.

Edit: Whoops, that's assuming the same seal from my '83 300SD engine will work.

Does your Housing have a single Central Bolt going through the top or Bottom or does it have 2 studs on opposite sides of the Lid.

Post #9 has a picture of one type of filter set-up. Is this the one that you have?
Massive Oil Leak! 1976 w115 300d

Or does your Filter Element pull out for the top?

If its the one with the two studs....there is a good chance just the rubber o-ring seal is messed up....easy fix.

So why isn't the "professional" bearing some responsibility for his "professional service"?

If the OP has a Flter like this one; Old Cars back to the early 1960s and before had similar Filter Housings and the Older Diesels and Industrial Engines had simliar ones as well as Fuel Filter.

It is possible to get the larger housing cocked when you tighten it and have it leak. It happend to Me before.

And, the Gaskets were often thick Paper type ones. People often did not change the Gasket and after a few re-uses the Gaskets would leak.
