Did you do the change, and then checked it? or did you start the engine and let it run for a bit? The Oil Filter will hold some oil. best to check it the next morning after sitting all night.

I checked after running the engine and again yesterday. I have been driving around town like this, pressure reads good and runs fine.

If it is over the full line on the stick that`s not good. As has been mentioned on numerous threads, best to keep it between the full and add line. A lot of these engines will use oil till it hits 1/2 way down between the lines, and then stay in that area. Adding make up oil, then they will use it back to the same level.

How ever if an engine is using oil, then best to keep it to the full line or check it every morning.

Clean off the Drain Plug, loosen the Plug and just tip it to one side to control the flow into a clean Pan.

According to my MB technical Data Passenger cars, 1983 manual.

Filling capacities is in Litres.

123.133, 123.153, 123.193 engine 617.952, 126.120 engine 617.951
initial fill (engine dry) 9.5
When changing oil & filter 7.5
Oil Pan max/min 6/4.5
