In your trials getting this car as you want it. Why at some point not at least check the fuel pressure present? Not doing so and the logic of the system being below 19 pounds with time being a decent possibility. Almost a certainty as they were at about 12 pounds or so from the factory so it is pretty much a sure thing.

If found extremely low with decent filters and having no knowledge how long it was running that way. Plastic gauge the first rod journal.

You could be missing too much various benefits if yours is quite low. This is a cheap thing to do with many potential benefits yet my belief is people still resist it.

I cannot be absolutely positive. Just believe low fuel pressure in the base of the injection pump has worn out far too many first cylinder rod bearings on the 616 engines to ignore. As time goes on more and more evidence tends to verify this. I get a piece of evifence here and a piece there. Never any that would indicate my thoughs are wrong in this area and I keep an open mind.

To be perfectly clear from all the information or evidence gathered by me now. Low fuel pressure causes the engine loading to favour the first cylinder. Too much or a disproportionate amount of the cylinder loading is serviced by the first cylinder. This speeds up the rod bearing wear in comparison to the others. Also another conclusion is it was not helpful that the 616 lift pump outputs a lower top pressure in operation. I Think as a further precaution the pressure determining spring should be changed to a turbo one or a good used turbo lift pump put on after kitting.

I was wondering about how worn front end parts would make it necessary to turn the wheel 1/8 turn to go straight and I began to think maybe something is amiss in the rear. Then I looked at the rr and it looks toed out significantly and it has a lot of negative camber. That would make it need steering input to keep the car going straight. I also noted the rear end getting a little squirrelly when pushing a bit in corners. I had thought the rear sway might be adrift but now realize it must be the trailing arm either bending around or just causing squirrelly actions as the weight shifts from the left (straight) suspension to the right (crooked).

I just happen to have a nice set of lower trailing arms in stock from the white autocrosser I finally parted out a couple of years ago.

I am guessing it is bent or rusty and bent.

The engine which I got from VStech is wonderful. Smooth and has excellent power for a 240D.

Thanks John!

They finally finished the arm and I paid for it today. I'll take it to the glass shop tomorrow for a new windshield and front and rear gaskets.

I went and picked her up today but there is a new rattle under the center of the car, the rear end is clunking and it still pulls to the right. He says its the tires. I think I'll ask him to switch the front tires side to side and see if it pulls the other direction. I left it there with the promise he will get on it tomorrow.

I took it to the glass shop today. They pulled both windshields. The rear is rust free but there is a small hole in the corner at the RF. I cleaned it and painted all the rusted or bare metal areas with good quality paint. The hole will be filled with cement and is under the gasket so it should not cause trouble.

Picked up the car today. The front glass is so clear it looks as if none is there at all! The new gaskets front and rear look wonderful! Now I need to get new rubber thingies for the side glass. I have a spare rear screen now if anybody needs one and the bright trim for front and rear.

Any solution to the clunking/pulling to the right?
