I think she's talking about the resonator. What I'm talking about should be right by the differential. Between the center resonator and the rear muffler. On a 201 there is a clamp there to get the muffler off, I'll go look under my 92 and verify I'm not giving you bad 201 based info haha.

How timely, I am going to do the exhaust on my W123 this spring. I need to do the part from the manifold to the centre mount by the tranny, and of course that is the one part the local parts shop can't find.

I think pelican has it, but the extra shipping extortion because I am in Canada has basically angered me into boycotting e commerce

Find a Canadian supplier then.

I was under the impression the OE rear muffler assembly included both rear mufflers, so my description was about replacing the whole unit at the bolt-on location, sorry about that. If you are able to get just the rear muffler, I suppose it would be like my 240's design where you simply slide it on and put a clamp over it. I'd have to look at that one again to describe the clamp. With the 124 I think you would have to cut the rear muffler from the rest of the exhaust, but could slide the new muffler over the old pipe. Then you just need the two rear hangers and (if it isn't supplied with the muffler) the bumper in top of it. I would also replace the hanger on the resonater.
