Rebuilding central door lock vacuum pump

There seems to be almost no mention on the interwebs on rebuilding central door lock vacuum pumps e.g. part# 1268000448 (found in the trunk next to spare tire). At + - $250 new a pop, one would expect to see more interest in this.

Can it be done?
