In 2021, I decided to replace the original oil cooler hoses on my 1984 Mercedes 300D with URO brand hoses for preventative maintenance. They were a lot cheaper back then, and I figured it was a good idea to swap them out before any issues cropped up. Fast forward to 2024, and now I regret that decision more than ever. I noticed a long streak of oil residue on the hood as I was about to run some errands. When I popped the hood, I saw that the lower oil pressure hose—the one connecting to the radiator—was leaking, and worse, it had actually dislodged from where it should be installed.
I'm beyond pissed that the URO hoses I installed as a precaution only lasted three years. To make matters worse, I’m starting an important job soon, and there’s no way I can be seen driving my wife’s Volkswagen Beetle, which drives like crap. Is there any quick fix I can try until I can get new, more reliable hoses? I really need to get this sorted out ASAP!
