I've been advised by more than one old farmer to use lindseed oil (due to it's readily polymerization) through a paint gun (the pressure will also likely hasten polymerization as well), and then "drive down the dustiest road you can find!". (Just make sure you spray a bit of acetone through the same gun, apparenly.) Years ago a shade-tree guy in NH said they used to just use motor oil 'til a couple of years ago when the someone gave them a hard time. These were all rust belt states. (I can certainly attest to the polymerization properties of pure tung oil with wood; but good luck covering your car with it...$$$)
