replacing the yellow w123 fog lights w/ H5001

Is the foglight housing the same size as an H5001 or 5.75" sealed beam?

I'm working on a HID projector retrofit for my 240D, The HID projector replacing the 7" sealed beam will be the lowbeam; and I'd like to re-purpose the foglight bucket to hold a sealed highbeam and wired as such.

This means that I will have a pair of yellow fogs to unload if successful, one is good, one is pitted.

Yes, it is the same size. I don't know if the locating tabs are in the same spot as a high beam, and there is no left to right adjustment, but I have seen other people who have mounted high beams in that location.

Thanks, they fit almost perfectly.

Now I'm tempted to put these up on evilBay considering what they've sold for recently :O

so the inside fog light that is normally yellow is also a 7" light? therefore, i would be able to go on fleabay and get the 7" rounds like i did fr my miata with the replaceable headlight and put any bulbs i want in them, including HID's

I might be interested too, if they're still available.

The Head Lights are 7" and the Fog Lights are 5". (W123)

Some Fog Lights are Yellow and 79 and older I believe are clear.

I have the clears in all my 123`s. Stock bulbs are 55w, and I increased to 100w on the 85 and wired them to come on with either high or low if I want. Forget the bulb size, stock is H3? and I went to H4? don`t remember.

With the 240, and I have some dark roads to drive on, I go to high beam, turn on the fogs and pull the turn sig lever to high beam so both are on. really lights up the road, but what a pain to hold the lever, this is why I changed the 85.
