Timing Chain Temp Master Link

I don't seem to be able to find a source for the temporary clip-type master link for rolling in a new chain on a 617. I've seen where some roll it in with just the one that comes with the chain and some that use duct tape to hold the link during the rolling in process. Both seem a bit Mickey Mouse, though I suppose they would work. Any suggestions on where to get a link, or an alternate way to join the old and new on a temp basis?

Master Link

I have one that came with my 603.961 timing chain that you can have should it fit.

I believe the chain manufacturer is IRIS purchased from Peach Parts.

Maybe check with them to see if it is compatible.

I'm also located in S.D. County.

Thanks for the offer. I'll very likely take you up on it.

It's always nice to meet up with another diesel enthusiast.

I'll PM you as I get closer - still have just a bit of research to do as well as order the parts.

Just remembered that the engine I removed from the 107 to install the diesel had a master link on its chain. Got out the calipers and verified that the chains are the same.

I'll borrow that to roll in the new chain.
