O.K., Rock Auto has the Bosch rebuild, it's NOT CHEAP
![]() The ACDELCO one is a mystery rebuild of an original BOSCH starter, nothing like a BOSCH branded rebuilt one . Now that you know the Bosch rebuilt part number is SR70X you could have searched KIDJI or other local places to find the best price on that specific unit . The life span of any starter depends more on how quickly your engine starts than anything else ~ in Canada (BRRR) it means cycling the glow plugs twice and following the factory cold start drill to the letter every time the temps are low . It also means every September should be your valve adjustment time and change the filters and add Diesel fuel additive....

Just to avoid any confusion for others who may read this - The starter for my 85 300D is actually an SR67X. This is the one vendors list for the 83/84 models.
I found this out by reading the Bosch number off the existing starter (00001362600). The ACDelco I am getting has number 3361307 which is apparently what I need. And the new MB number for the SR67X is 0031510701-80 (-80 means rebuilt.) Re starting in Canada in winter. I used this car as my daily driver in every kind of weather. Over 30 years I learned a thing or two ![]() ![]()
