my '07 ML CDI turned 200K miles today

Driving to work today I saw the odo turn to 200,000 on my CDI.
The only MB I bought new from the dealer. I use it every day for my 100 mile per day commute and I must say I have been very satisfied. I bought a base model with 17 inch wheels and happy I did that.
Two failures occured. The crank shaft position sensor and the transmission control module-something ( both common faults) were both fixed under warranty.
One defect that cost me a bit was a leaking rear hatch door that leaked water into car and fried some relays back there and disabled the auto rear hatch.
Other then that it has been great. I think it drives better then new. The car is still a rocketship.
I think I will keep driving it till 250 K then pass on to the kids. It has little dollar value anymore.
For me the vee-six CDI engine has been bullitproof. I think early predictions of it's poor longivity has proven false.
When this car retires I will buy the same diesel ML again as long as it has a spare ( temp) and NO runflats.
I read now that the Blutec with the urea set up is better then the trap filters because it doesn't inhibit flow out. It just sprays the exhaust and a few more horsepower is gotten out of the newer MLs.
( I guess I should have titled this thread- ode to my ML !)
thanks
Great forum gentlemen.

Good for you; my wifes '08 has around 130k. Aside from the oil cooler seal and the swirl motor; 20 hours of my life that i'll never get back; all is well. Just put some new 70k continentals on it; runs and rides like a dream.

Do keep an eye on your turbo inlet seal. Oil from the PCV will accumulate in the turbo inlet. if the seal splits, the oil will leak onto the swirl motor and seep into the connector flooding it with oil and eventually shorting it out, blowing a fuse, multiple codes and limp mode. Turbo and intake manifold will then need to come out to replace it. Real pain in the arse,

Best to you.
Mike

Thanks gentlemen. I have really enjoyed the beast. It is the perfect car for my 100 mile highway commute. Plus in the hills of north west Jersey the 4-matic handles the winter snow well. It came maneover well in a foot of snow and not get stuck
This has been my 7th MB diesel and I enjoyed every one, but the ride height of the ML has spoiled me.

Got no better than 23.4 in the ML320 CDI roadside assistance truck.

It's quite a leap considering the ML500 gets no more than 16 at best which is pushing it in my opinion anyway driving like a grandpa.

2007 ML 320 CDI

The photo is of the trip gauge from start. The trip was from Payson, AZ to Logan, NM via hwy 60, 54, I-40, & 54 again, driving the posted speed. Elevations from 5000' to 8000' to 2500' to 5000' again. Temp started in the 30's ended at 65. Light and variable winds. At the filling station, the actual mileage for the tank was 552 miles / 16.32 gallons = 33.82mpg. This was my first fill-up since I bought the vehicle. I was pleased. The entire trip was 1771 miles on 58.06 gallons = 30.5mpg.

We have averaged 27.98mpg since we got it the beginning of March.

Joosep, I have averaged 24.7 MPG overall.
There are some drives where it's 45 mph all the way non stop criusing and I have gotten 30 MPG But that is rare.
I must admit that I drive it pretty hard a lot like coming onto a highway and blasting to 60 mph and keeping the tach at 4000 rpm's.
That effortless power is too much fun!
