I wonder if there is a member list in a graphical format that shows member location as dots on a map.
Were there discussions about the potential break of privacy?

I think it would be nice to see without trying to go through a lot of searching to see who is your neighborhood potentially strengthening the community.

Also when planning a trip people could on forehand adapt their route easier along other members. I have been reading some of the travel posts and it seems that a lot of people like to see other members ones in a while.

We ourselves travel quite a bit and I know I must have driven along many a member without knowing it.

Having a geographic member location map could enable parts to be transported by other traveling members making it less expensive and save parts going to the trash.


I kind of remember someone tried to gather this information but wonder if it ever got published and where?

Another car forum I was on had a "See you - See me" thread that was constantly updated with sightings. That was fun and less in your face than a dotplot.

I have also managed the sorts of maps you talk about for boating and farming boards, and they can get messy real fast as people move around and cars are sold/traded/scrapped etc. Here is the boating example. Having said that, it really isn't hard to set up the maps in the first place. The maintenance and privacy issues are the killers. But this is just one guy's experience. YMMV.

Thank you , that is nice. The different colors is really a good idea. In the days that Veggie oil was still free we had several people from fill Up 4free visit us. They mostly were on a trip cross country. In general interesting people with nice stories.
In a lot of project posts people run into problems and have to source parts. I think it would be nice to be able to look at a map and see who is around you.
