Walking isn't a lost art: one must, by some means, get to the garage.

Does not look like I will ever catch you. I bought mine three years ago with 259,222 and it only has 259,226 now after being my DD for those three years. Please repost when you hit the famous 500k. Congrats again.

I'm guessing so. The odometer on my '71 only advanced 60 miles in four years.

My 82 240d is at 406,000 and the odometer was unhooked for at least 5years which was about 50k according to the PO. Still runs really strong.
Congrats on the milestone.

I'm not even half way there on my 240D. Doubt I will ever even get to 200k.

Congratulations on hitting the 300K mark. Exciting to see them reach the various marks we are hoping they make it to.

We just rolled 370,000 on the 240D a couple weeks ago. I kept watching it get closer and closer to get a picture, then I was 10 miles past and noticed it had rolled over.

Hope you have better luck than me. Bought my 85 300D w/ 278K miles. Engine failed at 330K miles. Chunks missing on 3 pistons at rings. #1 really bad, something (piston chunk?) bounced around inside the cylinder, leaving piston face pocked up. Pre-chambers look fine. Found a great replacement engine later.

Congrats on the 300k. Got 333k on mine, still running strong, even if the suspension appears to be rusting off the floor.

Drivers of most other cars wish they had that problem.

When I worked at a junkyard, we'd see Mitsubishi engines fail routinely before 100,000. American junk was typically good for about 160,000 miles. Honda, Toyota, and the like went more like 240,000. Subarus and Crown Vics were usually over 300,000. We didn't get enough Benzes with six digit odometers to establish a trend. Actually the only one we got was a 260E with 327,000 miles that looked like it had fallen off a cliff. In it I found a note from a mechanic that said it needed brake work.

Most I've had on a OM616 was 340K almost before it kicked the bucket from rust. No mechanical issues, plenty of compression, very little use of oil. Blow by was faint.

Thanks

Thank you all for the kind words and comments. I wish it was me who put most of these miles on the car. I bought it at about 275k about 6 years ago. Since my daily driver is a municipal pick up, I don't get a chance to drive the Benz much. Taking it to Co. Sprgs next week without worry.
I have put new tires, front pads, replaced glow plugs, rebuilt the A/C, replaced belts after they broke on the highway, just last Sunday finally adjusted the valves... they were all tight.
There is no rust cause it's a NM car.
Everything works including the cruise control.
Its really a good car and I was lucky finding it.

Congrats on the miles!

My newer SD just rolled over to 250K almost 2 weeks ago. It is at over 251K now. The older, grey 300SD is at 398K but true mileage is unknown. Judging by wear, it may have more miles on it. I imagine it takes a lot of driving to smooth 3/4 of the surface on the steering wheel.
