It seems I lost the only key I had...
Hi All
The merc I bought only had one key and it seems I lost it yesterday Now, its not worth for me to buy another at 250 pounds, I also don't have the time as I will be away soon. I need to get access to the car tho and I need to move it... EEK! Now, is there a bypass possible to fire her up and putting a start button in place? I really don't care if anyone can start her as its safe enough here, but I need to get her moving. I had a look at a spare ignition coil, its really hard core in there but the connections at the rear are basic. Can we connect them together? Thank you and happy weekend Olivier

Got the key!!! Woohoo!!! It fell yesterday on the neighbor garden and I just got it bak now. Woohoo!!!
Now, I still would like to get this car starting with a button as I rather spend 100 on electric switches then 250 on a key fob... Thank you

On our side of the pond, we had the W124 through 1995 with a metal key and a traditional key switch.
Starting in 1996 we got the W210. First year 210s had the metal key and I believe it was still just a standard switch. mid 1996 to 1997 added the RFID chip and the DAS (Drive Authorization System) to the metal key. Jeremy5848 has had firsthand experience with this on his early 96 W210, his car has the standard key only, and when the switch failed, they tried to sell him a DAS lock but his car was one of the original 210s with the standard switch. 1998 and newer changed to the bladeless key with RFID and DAS. This is what I have. If the RFID chip in the key does not satsify the DAS, the steering will not unlock, the engine will not get any fuel (electric SOV will not open), the drive by wire electronic accelerator control will stay at idle position, and the transmission will not be allowed to operate. This happens over CAN bus so it is very difficult to defeat.

Hi Jay Bob, this is what I have, the electronic DAS etc... As the picture I posted showed.
I was hoping the whole system is complicated inside the module but after that it'll be easy to just connect the wires together. But if its more then that with the CAN then yep, seems tricky... Thanks Stretch, I look at those but its not a repair that I need its a new key or a bypass... What would those emulators do? I don't know what the emulators do - this is all far too modern technology for me
I do read the daily tory-graph motoring section (=Honest John) regularly though and he seems to often recommend the people in that link for the type of thing you want to do - speak / email with some of them and see what they can do for you. They might be able to show you the way to the next port of call if they indeed can not help. (Sometimes it is just a big paper chase finding reasonable priced solutions)

the amount of money you will spend trying to button start the car would exceed the price of a few replacement keys.
