I just bought a 1982 300TD. The front floor mats are thick and padded but the rear ones are not. Is there a missing underpad for the rear floormats, or is it supposed to be a mat on bare metal?

You are missing padding. I would not worry about it.

There are a couple of chronic leakage areas on that model. Water tends to travel back and pool in the rear seat footwell (my wagon is from Texas and had rust holes there). The underpad may have got a bit funky if it sat wet for a period of time.

What color interior? I think the sedan has the same rear footwell, so the sedan pads may fit. I have a few sets of floor mats from some TD's I had...

Many thanks for the info about the missing pads & water leaks. The inside is beige vinyl, perhaps Palamino or Cream? The front is missing the mats (has pads) and the rear is missing pads (has mats). I'll post an WTB ad now that I know what's stock. Thanks again.
