I stretched the spring, and noticed no difference.
I'm going to take a video of the idle once I clean out my phone.

Hopefully no one takes this as a thread hijack, but I think I'm adding information.
I too have an occasional rough idle that was cured for a little while by cleaning the delivery valves. There are at least 2 folks on this forum who have cured rough idle shakes by changing delivery valves, Cho and Eaton9999. I've acquired some delivery valves but am having a rough time getting the copper washers. Received email from MB Tampa yesterday that the seals, 0000741759 are no longer available. There is a listing on ebay where the guy had 7 delivery valves, 1418512008; He should have 2 remaining. I received the other 5 yesterday; still sealed in the box and covered in wax from Bosch. $21 each. Just do a ebay search on item 151371124151. Looks like i'll need to get the copper washers from Bosch. Any sources for them that anyone is aware of? I don't believe I have a Bosch service center in close proximity. Mike |

So, see two sealing washers for '85 California models: which one? Or, just get both and match? Since the valves are just simple machined part, what would cause them to wear out? Thank y'all in advance!

hi mate
from the pic below you can see No.4 (dv) and 5 (washer) you need both...but...you can try with washer only to see if it helps as the valves are much more expensive. some guys reuse old washers some don't watch for proper torque..it should be 40-50nm but check on that one.... I'm not sure what cause wear of Dv's but best guess is fuel flow.. bad fuel especially...

Can't you just sand the copper washer seals on a flat surface and re-use? I have done so. I know fuel can make a big difference. Since I started using the new renewable diesel (Propel HPR, CA only currently), my 300D's idle noticeably smoother and quieter. Others note the same w/ bio-diesel, even the 20% B20 which you can run without any conversions. Even if you run pure D2 fuel, the quality varies greatly. Some who can't get B20, add grocery store corn oil to each D2 fill-up.

On the DV washers, I ran across a thread awhile back that said the correct one for a US 617 pump is this:
Diesel Delivery Valve Seal 0049974540 - Bosch - Mercedes-Benz - 004-997-45-40-M14 | Pelican Parts Which would be great since they're only a buck. Any confirmations or denials? Hard to find good info, since so many confuse and co-mingle the MW and M pumps. -Rog |

Where is the thread? According to the E.P.C. there are for versions, two for Federal and two for California. What makes it worse is the California and Federal are the same part numbers, with odd notes about dates saying all four after the 1985 model year. I be willing to get both California and compare if reasonable cost. Tom always quotes a price first. And add in California versus Federal.

You'll need to get the numbers off the side of your IP and call the local Bosch fuel injection service center. Using the numbers on your pump, they'll be able to look up exactly what washers you need.
