Red face Trying to figure out my climate control wires. Can you tell me what these are?

The first link the pic looks like some radio wire, and the second picture, Im not sure what it could be. The second link im not sure what any of that stuff is other than the vacuum module. Check it out, any ideas are welcome Thanks in advance. The previous owner didnt know what he was doing, ive found numerous cut wires and chords. http://imgur.com/a/Re0ub http://imgur.com/a/Cj8OU

The set of black wires that look like a spider is your fiber optic setup for lighting the switches in your center console. There is a single bulb that goes in the "abdomen" of said spider and the light from the travels through the fiber optics and light up the switch. The bulb socket looks to be hanging out below it - the single white socket with a blue and brown wire.

The other four sockets that have brown and blue wires, that are connected in series, go in to the back of your climate control unit. You can see how they connect in the Climate Control Replacement Guide in the iFixit link in my signature.

Each of those white sockets should have tiny 1.2v bulbs in them.

The item that looks like a radio wire probably is. There may have been a CB in your car? Or a big old car phone.

Not sure on the black plug.

Does your car have an aftermarket stereo? On my 82 SD, I had a similar plug that was disconnected that had +12v and ground. The connector looks exactly like the one in your second photo in the second link.

My car also had the black wire with the barrel connector in your first photo in the first link. I believe it was the antenna cable for the optional car phone.

Uberwasser answered the rest.

Hope that helps.

The later 123s came with 2 radios

Standard radio was the Becker 599, with analog dial, and two big knobs
These only needed switched power and ground. This came via the red and brown wires, and plugged onto the fuse holder and ground connection on the back of the radio. The illumination on the 599 is just fed from the switched power feed and was on whenever the radio was on. No computer in this radio so it does not need backup power, old school analog tuner.

The upgrade radio was the Becker 612. It had an LCD display and push buttons for all the functions. Since it needed unswitched power and sported variable illumination, the extra wires were terminated on the two pin connector you have there. There was an adapter harness that took the two pin connector and the two switched power and ground wires and joined them to the 4 pin connector going to the back of the 612.

Wow, thanks guys for all the info. I find it funny, cause Ifixit stops right at the wiring parts. I need a picture of the ash tray wiring, and I also need a photo of the left plug on the climate control module, cause I took it off of the climate control and it fell apart leaving the wires scattered.

FYI I wrote all the iFixit guides. The guides do stop at the wiring because the guides there are just to help you remove and install the parts, not fix hacked wiring One can only cover so much at once, it's a work in progress.

The ash tray wiring is very simple - just two or three wires that enter a white plug that attach to the metal bracket shown behind the ash tray.

Regarding the climate control wiring, the best I can offer is the attached wiring diagram for the climate control. Right click, save as and you can then zoom in. It gives you the wire colors and what pin the colors attach to.
