I could be dead wrong but I think the starter is one the wrong side with the straight six engines.

I think M110 and 61X do share a bell housing.

The m110, m121, m115, om615/6/7 have it on the passenger side.

Later motors like the m102/3 and the om601/2/3/4/5/6 have it on the drivers side.

it'll bolt up, but I doubt the transmission crossmember or driveshaft will fit... everything else should be ok...

Not sure about the flywheel. I used one from a 240D. It bolts up but is considerably lighter than a 617 flywheel. This is good for performance but leads to some vibration issues with high loads at low engine speeds. The driveshaft will need to be lengthened, and you'll most likely have to do something about the transmission mount. Other members on here (2 I think) have done manual swaps into 126 300SD's. Hopefully they'll offer some more advice.

It'll all bolt in. I suspect the driveshaft will be off a bit but that is easily changed. The pedal cluster is slightly different but I am told the 123 cluster will work with minor modification. I have a stick 126 pedal cluster but I am holding onto it as long as I might be buying back the 85 from my daughter.
