My '85 300D has a whole new personality now...

...thanks to those here on the forum who came up with a full set of mismatched hubcaps. I actually really like it, it "goes" with the terrible faded 10 yr old Maaco paint.

I like the right side better. A more artistic palette .

I dunno, I think your car looks great. Have you considered just getting the hood and trunk shot?

EDIT: Check that last comment. I looked more closely at the pics, particularly the driver side. They didn't put much paint on the car from the looks of it, on that respray.

Yeah, the guy I bought it from hadn't driven it for a year. It wouldn't start for him (dead battery + no car knowledge = parts car price for me!). He had it parked with the right side facing a brick wall. The other side was facing West. So it faded a lot more. I imagine eventually it'll even out

Looks to me like the rears match each other... why don't you put them both on one side ?
Not many people can see both sides of the car at the same time to compare....

Nice to see a car not covered in snow and is that some type of wind surfer on top. Really rubbing it in if it is!

Haha! I wish. I live in the desert. No water in sight.

That, in fact, is a full original exhaust system from a rust free junkyard car. I pulled it to replace the aftermarket exhaust that seems to resonate annoyingly on the car pictured.

Actually none of them match.

Front left - blue/green
Front right - pastel blue
Rear left - black
Rear right - maroon? actually kind of matches the respray color

This car will (eventually) get painted back to its original color 199 Black Pearl aka Blue Black. It's a truly 100% rust free body and deserves a proper paint job, when the time comes.

I also have a set of four never-been-painted hub caps that will get painted to match the body.

In the meantime, I'm having some fun with it

Or silver or at least a light color on top, hence my mint green over black color scheme. But to each his/her own........

Well, my '79 is black, with black MB-tex. And non-functioning A/C.

So it's all relative

I like the look. It's like the car has been through a post-nuclear era already .

And in this dystopian era, body matching hup caps are all but extinct. Oh the humanity!

199 is a nice color on a W123! Modern yet classic at the same time.
