1983 300TD - Does it have a Turbo Drain Valve?

I'm getting mixed reports here, I can't figure out if it does or not. I am attempting to do the drain tube gaskets, pan gasket replacement in an effort to cut leaks and if this sucker is bad, I need to do it at the same time. Thing is, I can't seem to find them available either, so as suggested, I will have to buy a vacuum pump rebuild kit too.

Any thoughts here? TIA

err, turbo drain valve? There is no such part on the OM617 engines. Why would you need a vacpump rebuild kit? For the pump to block gasket? I was able to buy on separately if that's what you are after....

The kit includes a check valve that fits the turbo oil drain. There is supposed to be a check valve there - in the pan. AFAIK, the valve is not available by itself.

Crap. My vac pump is fine, seems crappy you have to buy that to get the check valve.

This looks like what I need; I see it has three check valves, and that there are only two needed for the pump.

Yeah. That is the only way I have heard of short from salvage parts.

The Check Valve on mine is for the Breather Drain not the Turbo Drain.

In the pic #7 points to the Check Valve at the bottom of the Breather Drain.

Earlier years don't have the Breather Drain at all.

I think you are right. Not sure why I got the two confused. The TURBO drain does not have a check valve. It is just a PITA to seal up.

Sorry for the confusion.

I think I got confused when he said drain tubes and went into thinking both were to be refurbished.

Okay, so now I am confused... Is this something I should worry about since I will be in the vicinity? What parts are there in the breather assembly that might worsen leaking if I don't tend to them?

I appreciate your help, still learning about this car, and this engine.

The breather is sealed with an o-ring I believe that should be changed. I wouldn't bother with the check valve though.
