W201 Leaky trunk lid
87 W201 w/ leaky trunk lid- the rubber perimeter seal looks fine, soft & not cracked. It looks like there used to be a grommet around the lock button, but no more. Every once and a while I open the lid and a cup or 2 drains from the lid into the trunk.
Sound familiar to anyone? How to fix it?

There are several penetrations behind the badges, as well as the lock grommet. Feel behind the badges to see which ones are glued vs those which are spiked. The spiked ones have nylon bushing that are supposed to keep water out. Replace those and your lock grommet and that should do it.

Water can get in when debris builds up on the tail light, and when the radio antenna grommet fails.
