Heater in radiator hose

Good Morning,

Does it make any difference whether the block heater is installed in the upper radiator hose instead of the lower? It sure would be a whole lot easier to put it in the upper.

A Block Heater and a Radiator Hose Heater are two different things.

A Block heater will not work in a Radiator Hose.

A Block Heater fits in the side of the Block Just forward of the Starter.

You will need to buy a Radiaor Hose Heater, and it goes into the lower hose.
Remember, heat rises.

Whether a Bloc or Hose heater, you will need to drain the Coolant.
Block Heater is a PITA to install.

I wasn't to clear about the heater. I meant just the radiator hose heater.

If you have a 190D of the modern type, I would be surprised if you don't have a block heater. Maybe you might just need a new cord. Have you looked?

The block heater for the 60X series 190D cars (W201) is on the passenger side of the block

that was my thought too.

Its under the exhaust manifold near the block drain, it will be covered with a black plastic plug.
