Climate control - 1987 W126
Sometimes when I start the car and then turn on the climate control, I hear a clicking noise. I turn it off and try after a few min. which is then quiet. Also, recently, the blower motor will sometimes not work. I try later and all is well. Should I just replace the blower motor. It's about time for a new blower motor according to past history. Seems that they last about 90,000 miles. But, what causes the clicking noise?

My guess is blower and regulator are fine, PBU is tired. Clicking could be jumbled on/off signals to the solenoid bank. When the blower motor doesn't work, what happens if you switch to defrost? What happens if you smack upwards the panel below the glove box, as in the bottom of the blower case?

When switched to defrost, the blower does nothing. Thought about hitting the pass. panel, but, have not tried this yet. Thanks.

If the blower motor bearings and/or brushes are worn, sometimes the higher current of defrost will get it going. As will giving it up upwards impact since the motor axis is up-down as installed.
