In about 2005 it moved to Atlanta. Has extensive documentation for work done, so I imagine this would have been clear if it was repainted. There is also significant discoloration where the dealer decal was placed (and subsequently removed) above the "300D" on the trunk lid. I suspect this would not be the case if it was repainted. Take a look at the engine bay pics and let me know if you have any feedback.
Great pics, and thanks for the history of your car!

How 'bout some 911 Porsche pics?!

Rather surprised that at 109K the engine looks the way it does. Im sure you will be taking care of that. Other than that.. looks good.

You should be getting if you dont have.. a set of plastic body work tools to help get the door panel off.

It looks similar to how my 240D looked when I got it at 116k (it's at 141k now) It's a honest car.

Out of curiosity why didn't you get the antique tags for the 300D and the 911? It was a perk when I lived in Diamondhead to not have to register the car each year.

Redo the tag so it's an image of a Patent-Motorwagen

While true, it stereotypes the vehicle for one thing. I'd rather blend in w/o 'em, especially in the Porsche. For another, in Texas, you can't drive it on the streets unless you are going to a provable antique car event. It's not worth being pulled over in Texas for the hassle factor, IMO. I got pulled over for two cops wanting to check out my 36 year old Honda 550-Four's Antique Plates, & for an insurance check, b/c I wasn't wearing a helmet. That was a laugh b/c the law only applies to under 21 yr. olds. I was obviously over 21. Duh! The cops just wanted to drool over it - I don't need that, to be honest about it.

Replacing the door strap is not difficult.
Removal of the door panel is not hard. Just take your time. Remove a screw or two below the door arm rest/pull and remove it, pop out the plastic 'dowels' that hold down the panel, remove the door lock knob. Also remove the frame and black plastic liner inside the interior door opener handle. Lifts out after removing one tiny screw. Also need to remove the chrome frame at the door catch end.
Push panel up and out. Carefully unglue the plastic moisture guard. If it tears, just cut out a new piece from plastic painter's drop cloth. Tape or glue back on after its done.

Door strap has a horse shoe shaped retainer washer on the bottom of the hinge post. Remove that and tap out the post to free the strap.

Follow the strap inside the door and find the strap body. It has like 3 bolts.
remove and replace. I think the straps are door specific.

I removed pin stripe from a 300D donor door that I replaced. I used a hot air gun. Carefully heat to soften the decal. Lift off with plastic or wood flat tool. No damage.

You might as well replace the trans filter and fluid unless the service records show it was done recently.

The hard shift might be muck. Its hard to describe the normal 'shift bump' btw 1 and 2, so its up to you to figure it. Maybe adjust the linkage?? (thats out of my realm of experience).

Nice car !!

I looked at this car when it was for sale in Atlanta. I passed on it because the owner said the odometer had been slipping since his ownership so he could not verify the miles. It certainly has quite a bit more then 109k but at this point it looks like it was still well maintained so I'm sure you will enjoy it. I would make sure the odometer gears are replaced if you care about it counting the correct miles.
