Meyle Window Regulators for W210
Need to replace the right rear window regulator on 98 E300. Is Meyle of good quality or should I spring for MB?

I put in a Meyle 6 years ago in my wife's 210 no problems I figured if the OEM one breaks I'd try an aftermarket. I like it so far.

I did aftermarket on mine it lasted about 3 months. Went with original about a year ago it's still holding.

Do you recall which aftermarket brand you used?

99% of the time it's just the slide. So long as the cable isn't kinked that's all you need to do. There's a thread over in the stickies of the 210 forum at BW. It's a bit more work since you have to swap the bracket from the old to the new slide.
If you want to swap the regulator, then based on all the threads I've read over the years, I honestly don't think there's much difference between any of these. OE from the dealer or unnamed Chinese part from eBay, the slide is always what fails. Often the Dorman at Amazon is the best price. Good luck. |

I just did this yesterday on the same side, I used a Trucktec brand from Pelican. The holes did not line up exactly, but certainly good enough to get the job done. As said before, it was the slide that broke.

Both times when mine failed it trashed the cable so the slide trick would not have worked.
I can't remember where I got the aftermarket one, may have been the place that has all the parts your car will ever need...got a genuine one from the dealer after the clone one died in 3 months. Trucktec and Üro are of similar reputation. If you need a cheap part, really bad, chances are we have your cheap, really bad part. You will need a BIG rivet gun (not the wimpy one from the home center) to set the pop rivets if you go to the dealer. The dealer supplies steel rivets and the basic rivet tool is not up to the task.

Unfortunately I think I heard the window breaking down inside the door.

I bought two way, way off brand ones on flea-bay, $32/unit. One failed within 3 weeks...cable system is hung up and the other is working fine. For that expense they really are disposable. I think I am going to cobble together the slide from the old left to the old right(broken new one) to do the fix.

It does make awful crunching sounds...
But if you can see any part of the glass then chances are the glass is ok. Tempered glass completely self destructs if it is broken. Pull the door card, and run the slide all the way up the track. They helpfully put a hole at the right place in the track to stick a zip tie through to hold the glass at the top until you can replace the cheap tin piece of junk.
