transmission oil..change or not?
hi guys
I preparing to swap my 722.303 with 722.307 (from 280se) but the tranny was stored in garage for 1 or 2 years..not sure... what is the advice considering oil change, should I do it before swap or let it run after swap for a few days to wash out old debris and than change oil and filter? thanks .

Change it before. Drain the pan and torque converter. Regular old Dexron 3 oil.

i would be careful doing that swap the .303 has lower shift points than the .307. the .307 is for gas so it has to shift higher and operate at higher rpm. not sure how it will work on an om617. not saying don't just be prepared for a lot of tuning the vacuum system ant the bowden cable.

thanks

yes,I'm not even sure that bowden cable is same length,.. I guess that simple measurement after I drop .303 out will do... if not same I ll switch my old onto .307 body... as for shifting point I will start with cable too lose to compensate and see from there... maybe to engage some linkage adjustment into play also... anyways,as I can not find any written trace of such thing (.307 on 617) it will be rather interesting project....
