Did a search and nothing on the injector leaking at the head. Cleaned the engine to check for oil leaks and looking over the head gasket, see fuel leaking from the base of the injector of number 2 and especially at number five. There is absolutely no wetness higher up, from the seam in the injector, soft lines were just replaced with Mercedes-Benz lines (mechanic insisted aftermarket lines were causing the leak and didn't want to argue), and the engine runs good. Injectors were rebuilt by Tram about 20,000 miles ago.

So, what is causing the leak?

Thank you s very much for the reply, however, the block is dry, except where the fuel is running down the block. The others are dry, so doesn't explain wash water lingering.

In that case, take a closer look at the injector return lines. Use a paper towel or TP to test the ends, and swab around the top of the injector with engine running. Might also be a leaky nipple, which would be unfortunate.

Did you have a leak at the base of the Injector before the engine cleaning?

Have you checked the leak off lines aren't leaking and then running down the side of the injector?

Start simple/cheap/easy and work your way up. I love the idea of using paper towels / q-tips to check around the return lines, injector nipples, and even the hard lines/nuts on the tops of the injectors.

I'd also recommend using brake cleaner followed by compressed air to thoroughly clean off all the fuel.

If you have a "black light", diesel fuel will fluoresce and it is easy to see the glow at night, so you can clean off all the old, check with the black light to make sure it is gone, and then start the engine and see where the fuel is coming from.
