Vacuum pod diaphrams

Does anyone have the contact info for the guy that makes the vacuum pod diaphram replacements for the pods in our cars? Is he still making them?
Or better yet, has anyone tried making their own?

I thought he had just the replacement rubber
Not the whole assy. Might be best to just replace the whole thing. Wonder if they are plug n play?
Anyone used the new style pods?

He has replacement rubber. They were ~$8 each the last time I bought them a few years ago. There is some discussion saying that the single diaphragm pods work fine but that the doubles don't have enough throw if the diaphragms are replaced.

New pods were at least $70 the last time I looked. I try to snag extras whan at the yard if it is easy. Sometimes they have a useable diaphragm and you can use them to refurbish yours.

You can access all with the possible exception of 1 of the pods without pulling the dash on a 126. I'm not sure on the 123.

The replacement pods I saw on his website are inexpensive, $11, but they are the double pod.

I think the 85 123 uses single pods.

I purchased one defrost pod a while ago I think it was $$$$$$$ mucho deneros like maybe $50-60.

Maybe a DIY-er will chime in with a cool fix.
I did email him asking about rubber replacement pieces

You remove your pod, take a small screw driver, push in the tabs, open the pod, replace the diaphragm, snap the pod back together, reinstall. George uses the same diaphragm for single and dual pods.

I was too cheap to buy the cup holder the last time I saw a price but I'm cheap.

Another solution is to cut some nice wood to fit and have a couple of 3" or whatever holes cut in it. 2x2 or similar could be glued to the bottom of the wood to set the height.

I bought the zebrano veneer a while ago to make the center console cup holder, just never got around to it.
It would be nice to have all the pods working.

Thumbs up

I rebuilt a dual tit pod's lower chamber (one closest to the actuating arm) with his single tit pod diaphragm. No point in throwing good money after bad since it has very easy access and the upper chamber still held vacuum.

The upper kits he sells do not work well on the dual tit vacuum pod. Since you have some spares, fully disassemble the upper portion. I figure you can drill out the center plastic housing and knock out whatever holds the upper chamber to the center assembly.

Just holding the assembly beside a good lower/single tit pod diaphragm and eyeballing it reveals you may be able to use the diaphragm if you are crafty.

85 123 has one with a double diaphram. Best to replace that with a new one as it is almost impossible to not destroy the housing if you are to replace both diaphrams. I will get a new center pod also. The other 3 pod diaphrams are easy to replace.
