Why is that piece of metal there? There is a cast hole in the head for lifting the head/engine. Is that piece just bolted on?

It almost looks like someone bolted on the metal plate that is used to lift the engine or head and is located at the rear of the head bolted along with the intake manifold. I attached a picture with the plate focused.

![]() I think what happened was I sent this car to a shop to replace glow plugs. The guy removed the intake manifold, and he just installed this bracket to the front instead of putting it back to where it was. So now the new questions where it should be? From the picture above it is hard to tell. |

I believe that piece is for lifting the engine. There are two bolts attach this piece to the engine. I thought about removing the metal piece, but not sure it is safe to do so? Why it is interfacing with fan? Isn't the plastic fan should be the same size as metal?
