Front end jack point - 99 E300
I'm try to raise both sides of my car from a single front end jacking point. I read a few older posts that have shown a large rubber post in the vicinity of the oil or transmission pan. I don't see anything like that on my car.
I did remove the plastic undercar covers and I see a black cross member (with large holes) connecting the control arms (?) on both wheels, is this a good place to jack? - see attached picture. If not, any suggestions? Thanks. |

Engine mounts, R & R perhaps?
If so.......replace one side at a time, is how I've done them on that car model. As far as the lift point? I'd advise to lift at the front of the bottom side of the transmission - if at all possible. Not the engine sump pan. But be sure to only do one mount from start to finish - at a time. |

I needed access to the EGR bolt from below while I removed my intake manifold and replaced glow plugs, so I used the driver and passenger side jack points to put front tires on blocks. I would now prefer to use my floor jack to support the car while I remove the block from both sides.
I see a second cross member after the oil pan (rearward) and its covered by another plastic cover. Is this a better location to jack? |
